Tresco Road, Nunhead

Snazzy semi-detached extended and stylishly-renovated Victorian house of 1856 square feet.

The house has four bedrooms (all doubles), two bathrooms and a shower room, a downstairs w.c. and a useful store area for bikes and such (which is accessed from the front of the house).

Find your new home just a 10 minute walk from Nunhead Station, and closer still to Nunhead Green Conservation Area - which takes in Nunhead’s well-stocked independent high street and village-style green. Peckham Rye Station is a 17 minute walk.

There are lots of good schools (covering 3-18) nearby, too. These include Rye Oak, Ivydale, St. Mary Magdalene and Edmund Waller (primaries), and Harris and St. Thomas the Apostle (secondaries with sixth forms.)

Back to the house! In the front door and first on your right is a large formal front reception, of over 14 feet by nearly 12 feet. Bespoke shutters grace the lower window panes and you have an on-trend wood-burning stove. Coving and rose detail further impresses, and gorgeous herringbone flooring flows through into the second reception; which is designed as a cool home office, with lots of built-in shelving.

There is a smart handy downstairs w.c. off the hall, then you arrive in the main event (which you can also access from the second reception): the huge open-plan kitchen/dining room which runs 18 feet by 18. Treats here include a poured concrete floor, a central island, beautiful solid marble worktops, and glazing over the former side-return area. You also have a deep utility cupboard. Your east-facing garden (decked and lawned) is accessed via double-glazed folding doors.

Up to the half-landing and you have a double bedroom to the back of the house, with the property’s main bathroom next door. Smart white sanitary ware features here, with an over-bath shower and brick-style tiling.

The main landing delivers a master suite: you have a large twin-sashed principal bedroom across the front of the house (of over 15 feet by nearly 12 feet), and from here you open double doors to reveal a dressing area (with built-in closets), and beyond this, a full bathroom with both (free-standing) bath and independent shower. A part-frosted sash window spares any blushes.

Up the stairs again and you will first find bedroom number three - this has an en suite shower room. Then finally at the top of the house is the fourth and final bedroom, with exposed brickwork and a pair of Velux windows. Accessible eaves storage completes matters.

Nunhead station (Fare Zone 2) has London Victoria trains and Thameslink trains as well (Farringdon, Blackfriars and King’s Cross). It also puts on an impressive skyline view from the platform! Or you can walk 17 minutes to Peckham Rye Station (also Fare Zone 2) for London Overground and Southern services.

Nunhead has a relaxed feel, with central green, playground and community centre (by AOC architects), and excellent established staples which include Ayres Bakery and Soper’s Fishmongers. Popular businesses include Mother Superior, El Vermut, Goodcup (and Goodnights), Kudu Grill and BAR D4100. The Old Nun’s Head, Skehan’s and The Earl of Derby are top locals.

Central Peckham/trendy Rye Lane is a 14 minute walk, for such delights as Peckham Levels and The Bussey Building & Copeland Park complex, plus Market Building. Walk a further five minutes to Bellenden Road with its independent high street and lovely shops, cafes and restaurants like Artusi, Ganapati, Flock & Herd and Review book store.

You can also easily walk to Telegraph Hill's gorgeous parks - with views, tennis courts and a weekly Farmers’ Market (Saturdays from 10am), as well as Peckham Rye Park and Common’s 113 acres.

Locally, Nunhead Cemetery is a beautiful Victorian one - one of ‘The Magnificent Seven’ - with beautiful big trees and views.

For more options, Camberwell, East Dulwich, Brockley, New Cross and Deptford are all a short journey.
