Shenley Road, Camberwell

After a blank canvas period home? Here you go! It’s a big and bright five double bedroom Victorian terrace of 1639 square feet, over three full floors. An east-facing garden of circa 40 feet completes the package. Chain free.

Your new abode is located on a quiet and tree-lined ‘Lyndhurst toast-rack’ street, set between Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye Zone 2 stations (walk 10-15 minutes for either), near South London Gallery.

You are equally close to the popular town centres of Camberwell and Peckham - enjoy easily what both have to offer.

From your hall, your formal reception rooms rest to your right. These are over 14 feet by over 12 feet, and over 10 feet by over 11 feet. Stripped floors, a period fireplace, and coving and rose detail are all welcome features. A cute serving hatch gives you a first glimpse of the large kitchen/diner.

At the foot of the hall you have your door to the cellar, and your door to the double-aspect kitchen/diner, of nearly 20 feet by over 10 feet.

A back door delivers you to the side-return area of the part-walled garden. Much like the house, the garden is scruffy and needs some love and attention - but is a good big space and gets fab early sun thanks to its easterly orientation.

Up the stairs and from the half-landing you have a double bedroom to the rear (of over 12 feet by nearly 10 feet). Next door is the property’s windowed bathroom, with a simple white suite.

From the landing proper are two more double bedrooms - of over 10 feet by nearly 12 feet, and over 16 feet by over 14 feet. The principal bedroom across the front has a big west-facing bay window.

The second floor hosts bedrooms four and five. Good sizes again, at over 16 feet by nearly 12 feet, and over 12 feet by over 10 feet.

Kids or thinking of? Local provision includes Lyndhurst, The Belham, Bellenden and Dog Kennel Hill (primaries), and The Villa Nursery and Pre-Prep. School on Lyndhurst Grove (2-7).

Local green spaces are in their many and include Warwick, Lucas and Lettsom Gardens, Brunswick, Burgess and Ruskin Parks, and Peckham Rye Park and Common.

Particularly useful bus routes from Peckham Road include the 436 (Paddington and Victoria), the 12 (Oxford Circus) and the 171 (Holborn).

Local eating and drinking establishments of note include TOAD bakery, Theo's, Forza Win, Veraison Wines, The Camberwell Arms, The Hermits Cave and The Crooked Well (SE5), and Ganapati, Miss Tapas, The Sourcing Table, Artusi, Forza Wine, The Montpelier and The Begging Bowl (SE15).

In the warm months, Rye Lane’s rooftop bars are the hippest destination for cocktails and people-watching. Rye Lane also has handy high street shops and regular market stalls, and a great value cinema (all movies £5.99 a ticket).

Peckham and Camberwell both have good leisure centres with pools as well as boutique gyms and yoga studios, and The Butterfly Tennis Club and Zen Yoga Studio are also local, at the northerly (bottom) end of beautiful Camberwell Grove.
